The initial plans for the dock were impressive, but what truly elevated the event was the generous offer from a local dock builder based in Hollywood, FL. Hollywood Marine Construction, renowned for their craftsmanship and community involvement, stepped forward to modify and enhance the dock specifically for the competition, and they did it all for free. Their contribution ensures that the dock is not only safe for the dogs but also optimized for the best diving experience.
The Event
The Canine Dock Diving Extravaganza will feature multiple categories:
- Big Air: Dogs will take a running start from the back of the 40-foot dock and leap into the water. Distance is the name of the game here.
- Extreme Vertical: A bumper is suspended in the air, and the height is gradually raised after each round. Dogs will jump to snag the bumper, testing their vertical limits.
- Speed Retrieve: Timed event where dogs race to retrieve a toy at the end of the pool.
